RULES FOR ALL SHOWS

1

All horticultural exhibits, except Floral Art, must have been grown by the exhibitor for at least 2 months before the date of the Show.

Exhibitors may not stage more than one entry in any one class.

Unless otherwise stated, an entry fee of 25p per exhibit will be paid.

Using a separate piece of paper for each PERSON (not for each class) please write your name, address and telephone number (and age if under 13 years).  Then write the number of each class you wish to enter, together with a brief description.  Please do not use the same piece of paper for different people's entries.  This paperwork and the fees must be received by the Show Secretary, at 3 Sea Lane, East Preston or Kerry's in Sea Road, East Preston, not later than 4pm on the Wednesday prior to the Show.   At the discretion of the Show Secretary a late entry may be accepted up to, but not after, the day before the Show.

Exhibits may be staged from 8.30 am on Saturday.  All exhibits must be arranged according to the directions of the Stewards, and staging must be completed by 10 am, when the area will be cleared for judging.

Exhibitors must provide their own vases, plates etc. for displaying their exhibits.

Exhibits may not be removed before the Prize Giving.

The Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage, howsoever caused, but all ordinary care will be taken of exhibits.

Prizes will be awarded at the Judges’ discretion and it shall not follow that a First, Second and Third prize will be awarded.  The Judges’ decision in all cases is final and judging will be to RHS rules. A copy of the RHS publication "The Horticultural Show Handbook” may be borrowed from the Show Secretary.

The Committee reserves the right to inspect the gardens of exhibitors.

Prize money must be collected from the Treasurer between 4 pm and 5 pm on the day of the Show and prize money not collected shall be deemed a donation to the funds.

Unless otherwise stated, prizes will be awarded as follows:

ALL CLASSES:

1st – £1.00

2nd – 50p

3rd – 25p

A 1st prize will count as 3 points,

a 2nd prize as 2 points

and a 3rd prize as 1 point.

Unless otherwise stated, all trophies will be awarded to members of this Society together with other exhibitors residing in the East Preston and Kingston postal area.  All trophies are held for one year and must be returned to the Show Secretary (telephone 01903 782191) one month before the next Annual Show.
